Preventive Dentistry for Healthy Teeth
Caring for your teeth to keep them healthy is very important. At Barnes and Barnes Family Dentistry we share with you best practices in healthy teeth and gum care so your teeth are strong, your smile is bright, and you avoid enamel wear, gum disease, false teeth and cavities. The American Dental Association recommends regular visits to the dentist starting at an early age.
Brush your teeth every day. Brush at least twice a day with fluoride toothpaste and remember to replace your toothbrush 4 times a year. Don’t forget to brush your tongue. This will help freshen your breath and remove bacteria from your mouth.
Floss every day. Flossing helps clean out the spaces between teeth. You need to make sure you’re flossing correctly. At Barnes Family Dentistry we’re happy to share best flossing practices with you so your teeth stay strong and healthy.
Visit your dentist. You should visit Barnes Family Dentistry at least twice a year. You’ll benefit from regular cleanings and exams to check for problems and take care of them right away.
Eat right. If you eat a balanced diet you will improve the health of your teeth. Eating a variety of foods will provide the vitamins needed to maintain a healthy smile. We recommend you limit your sugar intake and sugar durations. Also be sure you drink plenty of water.
Start Early: We recommend scheduling your child’s first dental visit by the age of two. Learning good hygiene habits in preschool and elementary school will set your child up for a lifetime of healthy teeth. Our dentists love to work with children and have been a part of many children’s journeys as they grow to adulthood.
